こんにちは皆さん、ブログにたどり着いた皆さん。私は2005年に渡米して、アメリカはサンディエゴの美容室BB Meme Salonを開業、現在二店舗のオーナであり、ヘアスタイリスト、そしてプロフォトグラファー日々活躍中です。このブログでは、私のヘアーデザインのアイデア「Less Distorted Hair Designing」を、「骨格構造と毛流れ補正法」を使って説明していきます。

Expanded Shape

This hairstyle I created was inspired by memories from that time and was expressed through the hair of a client featured in Chapter 32. I remember being shocked when I first saw this hairstyle created by a friend of mine in1990s. I wondered whether such a shape, which simply expanded in all directions and resembled a shapeless catfish, could ever be popular among the masses. This large, round shape was also the signature silhouette of Kenji Saiga when he opened TONY & GUY TOKYO.

このヘアースタイルはその当時の記憶を辿って、Chapter 32で登場したお客様の髪で表現してみたのですが、当時私の友人が作ったこの髪形を見た時は衝撃的でした。ただ四方に膨らんでいるだけでこんな締まりのないナマズのような形が、果たして大衆に受けるものなのだろうか？　と、そんな風に考えたのを記憶しています。この大きな丸い形はTONY & GUY  TOKYO をオープンさせた当時の雑賀健治のシグネチャーシルエットでもありました。

This photograph was taken by me, featuring a model with curly hair, inspired by his PR image from that time. The hairstyle is essentially based on a horizontally placed isosceles triangle truss structure, with curves added to each component to create a rounded shape that expands sideways and backwards. Achieving such a rounded form is not easy unless you’re working with an Aflo hairstyle, especially since she had fine hair. It was quite a challenge and a lot of fun to create this style.

Interestingly, at the same time in Japan, Nissan introduced a new concept with a round design for their Cima model. There were whispers among the developers questioning whether such a round, unconventional shape could actually be successful in the market. The prevailing notion of luxury being associated with angular, boxy shapes was shifting, and there was a move towards luxury vehicles that could be paired with casual outfits like jeans and T-shirts. This was reflective of the changing times.

This hairstyle leverages the characteristics of the truss structure, where as long as one segment is connected, the energy exchange along the force lines is possible even when the direction changes. The round shape’s radiating lines are also highlighted in this design. The hairstyle features a smooth, bulging the bottom of ship shape towards the lower part, which enhances stability and incorporates buoyancy.

Hints of shape and force lines are all around us in our daily lives. Try to envision the force lines running through every shape you see. You are bound to discover something fascinating.

この一枚の写真はその当時の彼のPRイメージをモチーフにカーリーヘアーの彼女にモデルになってもらって僕が撮影しました。基本的には先出した二等辺三角形のTruss Structureを横置きに配置して、そのパーツひとつひとつにカーブを加えることで横と後に拡張していく丸みを表現した作品になっています。頭が丸いと言っても、ここまで膨らませるのはAfloヘアーでない限り容易ではないのです。しかも、彼女は猫っ毛ときている。随分と頭を捻って創作を楽しみました。面白い事に、日本では日産社が国内でシーマという新しいコンセプトを打ち出した丸いデザインを発表していて、やはり、開発者の間で、「こんなナマズのような形の車が果たして売れるのだろうか？」と囁かれていたそうです。四角四面が高級感という固定概念が薄れて、ジーンズとT-Shutsでも乗りこなせる高級車にそれに似合わせる髪型。カジュアルでも価値がある。という風潮に世の中が変化してしつつある時代背景がそこにありました。この髪型はTruss Structureが持つ、一片でも繋がっていれば、方向を変えてもその力線のエネルギーエクスチェンジは可能という特性と、Round Shapeの放射力線の特色が生かされています。下方部に向けてスムースに角のない丸みのあるウエートを配置した船底型（Bulge Shape)になっている為、安定感が増しなが同時に浮力を内包します。形と力線のヒントは私達の生活の中でいくらでも周囲に転がっています。目に映るすべての形の中に走る力線を思い描いてみて下さい。きっと面白い発見があるはずなのです
